edge talk Terms of Service

Introduction
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of edge talk ("we," "our," or "the app"), an AI chat application available on iOS, macOS, watchOS, and visionOS. By downloading, installing, or using edge talk, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
Please also review our Privacy Policy, which describes how we handle your data.
1. Service Description
1.1 What edge talk Does
edge talk is a local-first AI chat application that lets you:
- Have conversations with AI models using your own API keys
- Create and customize AI personas
- Store all conversations locally on your device
- Optionally connect third-party accounts (Google, GitHub, X) for extended functionality
- Optionally use our proxy service for AI model access via subscription
1.2 Local-First Architecture
edge talk operates primarily on your device. Your conversations, settings, and personal data are stored locally. We do not have access to your conversations or AI interactions.
2. Eligibility
- You must be at least 13 years old to use edge talk
- If you are under 18, you must have parental or guardian consent
- You must comply with all applicable local, state, national, and international laws
3. User Accounts and Authentication
3.1 API Keys
edge talk allows you to connect your own API keys from third-party AI providers (such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, etc.). You are responsible for:
- Keeping your API keys secure
- All usage and charges incurred through your API keys
- Complying with the terms of service of your AI providers
3.2 Third-Party Sign-In
edge talk supports optional sign-in via Google, GitHub, and X (Twitter). When you connect a third-party account:
- Authentication tokens are stored securely in your device's keychain
- We only access the data necessary for the features you use
- You can disconnect your account at any time from the app's settings
4. Google Account Integration and User Data
When you sign in with Google, edge talk may request access to the following scopes:
4.1 Basic Profile (openid, email, profile)
- Used to identify your account within the app
- Your name, email, and profile picture are displayed in the app's account settings
- This data is stored locally on your device only
4.2 Gmail Access (gmail.readonly, gmail.send, gmail.compose, gmail.modify)
Gmail access is requested to enable AI-assisted email functionality within the app. Specifically:
- gmail.readonly: Allows AI personas to read your emails when you explicitly ask them to (e.g., "summarize my recent emails")
- gmail.send and gmail.compose: Allows AI personas to draft and send emails on your behalf when you explicitly request it
- gmail.modify: Allows AI personas to perform email actions you request (e.g., marking as read, labeling)
4.3 How Google User Data Is Used
- Google user data is processed locally on your device and sent only to the AI model provider you have configured (using your own API key or our proxy)
- We do not store, collect, or transmit your Google user data to our servers
- We do not use your Google user data for advertising, analytics, or any purpose other than providing the features you explicitly invoke
- We do not share your Google user data with any third parties beyond the AI model provider necessary to fulfill your request
- AI model providers process your data according to their own privacy policies and terms
4.4 Revoking Google Access
You can revoke edge talk's access to your Google account at any time by:

edge talk's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use edge talk to:
- Violate any laws or regulations
- Generate content that is illegal, harmful, or violates the rights of others
- Attempt to circumvent AI provider safety measures or content policies
- Interfere with or disrupt the app or our proxy service
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the app
- Use automated means to abuse our proxy service or exceed fair usage limits
- Impersonate others or misrepresent your identity
6. Subscriptions and Payments
6.1 Free Tier
edge talk is free to use with your own API keys. All core features are available without a subscription.
6.2 Proxy Subscription
We offer an optional subscription that provides access to AI models through our proxy service:
- Subscriptions are billed through Apple's App Store
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase
- Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
- You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID account settings
6.3 Refunds
Refunds are handled by Apple according to their App Store refund policies.
7. Intellectual Property
7.1 Our Rights
edge talk and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by edge talk and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
7.2 Your Content
You retain all rights to the content you create using edge talk, including conversations, custom personas, and configurations. We claim no ownership over your content.
7.3 AI-Generated Content
Content generated by AI models through edge talk is subject to the terms of the respective AI provider. We make no claims of ownership over AI-generated content.
8. Disclaimers
8.1 AI Content
AI-generated content may be inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate. You are solely responsible for reviewing and verifying any AI output before relying on it. edge talk does not guarantee the accuracy, reliability, or suitability of AI-generated content for any purpose.
8.2 Third-Party Services
edge talk integrates with third-party AI providers, Google, GitHub, X, and other services. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or conduct of these third-party services. Your use of third-party services through edge talk is subject to their respective terms and policies.
8.3 Service Availability
edge talk is provided "as is" and "as available." We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation of the app or our proxy service. Since core functionality operates locally on your device, most features remain available offline.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, edge talk and its developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:
- Loss of data or content
- Charges incurred through third-party API usage
- Actions taken based on AI-generated content
- Interruption of service
- Unauthorized access to your device or data
10. Termination
- You may stop using edge talk at any time by deleting the app
- We may suspend or terminate access to our proxy service for violations of these Terms
- Upon termination, your locally stored data remains on your device under your control
- Sections regarding disclaimers, liability, and intellectual property survive termination
11. Changes to Terms
- We may update these Terms from time to time
- Material changes will be communicated through the app or our website
- Continued use of edge talk after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms
- If you disagree with changes, you should stop using the app
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of edge talk shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation first, and if necessary, through binding arbitration or the courts of competent jurisdiction.
